Seagull proof bags

09/11/2024

Seagull-proof bags prevent gulls from spreading waste by tearing up regular trash bags. On the day of collection, they are intended to safeguard your black trash bags. They are not designed to hold trash between pickups.

Seagull-proof bags pose a health and aesthetic risk when they are left outside in between collections. Therefore, the bag should be folded or rolled up after being emptied and kept in a secure location until your following pickup. Just as you would with the red recycling bags.

You risk being fined if you don't bring the seagull proof bag in.

Remember:

  • First, rubbish needs to be put in black trash bags.
  • After that, the trash bags are to be placed inside the seagull-proof bags.
  • Place your seagull proof bag outside for pickup either late at night the day before or before six in the morning day of.
  • After the rubbish has been picked up, return your seagull bag as soon as you can.
  • Attach the bag to your property or place something heavy in the bottom to keep it from blowing away.

Please don’t:

  • Place plastic bags of rubbish out on their own.
  • Put rubbish straight in seagull proof bag, Trash will not be picked up if it is placed directly in the bag.
  • Tie together the handles over the lid, it will not be picked up.
  • The bags are only for home trash; do not use them for hazardous, liquid, bulky, or garden waste.
  • Keep the bags outside when not collection day.
