HOW TO KEEP MICE AT BAY

Keeping undesirable rodents out of houses can sometimes feel like an impossible task, and in February, mouse sightings are far more likely.

Because of the reduction in temperature, the first few months of the year are considered the worst for rodent invasion in Britain. This encourages rodents to enter houses in search of warmth and food, and to eat anything that comes in their path.

Smells like cayenne pepper, peppermint, and garlic drive mice crazy because of their extremely keen senses of smell.  

For instance, as a natural mouse repellent that is safe for homes, pets, and kids and makes your house smell nice, you may strategically place peppermint oil in cotton balls in areas where you suspect mouse activity.

The strong menthol properties included in the ingredients work as a repellent by interfering with rodents' keen senses.

As stated above, another good deterrent for mice is aluminium foil; for whatever reason, which we may never discover, they find it extremely undesirable and avoid it.

Put the foil in areas where mice are most active, and remember to store any food that you would generally leave out, in storage tubs to keep the small critters away.

If you have certain mouse entry spots that are difficult to repair, stuffing them with aluminium wire wool serves as a double dose of prevention, its affordable and can be found in most supermarket shops.

While the effectiveness of natural preventative methods remains to be seen, households should prioritise home cleanliness. The most crucial rule is to keep food waste out of the home and leave rubbish bags outside.

But most importantly, locating and securing minor openings around the house is the most essential part of preventing intrusion.
